The Personality Characteristic

Hello dear friends and readers…very pleasant morning to all

I didn’t really know what’s going on for me to leave this column for long and without any news…to brighten up my day I’m sharing today the four domain characteristic and behavior for our reading pleasure. I’m hoping by sharing this short write-up it will be beneficial to us to understand ourselves and others. I do believed it will be a tremendous help by knowing the four characteristic in our day-to-day life. It is not being busy body but will increase our knowledge being with our circle of friends, colleagues, acquaintance, neighbours or just anyone who cross our path. It’s also teaches us how to appreciate them in all circumstances.

I first read the book titled “The Personality Plus” written by Florence Littauer in 1995. I was force to read the book due to my job scope. After reading it and try to understand each group I find it easier to manage the group of people I’m dealing with at that particular time. As time goes by I use it just as a reminder to myself where and when to be cautious, courteous, out-spoken, stand for my right, voicing opinion and many more.

Do you have the melancholy personality? If you do, then you probably noticed that you’re creative, respectful, analytical, and thoughtful. The most appropriate word for you is ‘thinker’. Unlike the extroverts, you are very careful with your actions because you’re sensitive to their needs. These are your strengths. But you see, the coins have two sides and so if you have strengths, you also have weaknesses.

As the word suggests, you care very moody. There are times when you feel happy but then after a couple of minutes, you feel depressed or sad. Melancholy personalities have the tendency to be suspicious, critical, and pessimistic. Others won’t find it easy to please you because you’re always fuzzy with the details. Still, you can create lasting friendships.

Striving for perfection is not wrong but there are times when you expect too much from others because of your ‘perfectionist’ attitude. You need to realize that not all people are like you so you have to accept them for who they are. The lives of melancholy persons are usually in order and their creativity shows in their everyday work. In terms of friendship, you are self sacrificing which means that your loyalty is unending.

Among your positive traits are serious, purposeful, musical, artistic, talented, conscientious, idealistic, poetic, philosophical, and genius prone. Once you establish your own family, you usually set high standards and you want everything to be done right. The home is always in proper order. It is also common for parents having this personality to encourage talent and scholarship. The melancholy personality is also willing to sacrifice for their children’s well being.

Your employer believes in you because you tend to be schedule oriented. You have high standard, keeps things organized, economical, tidy, neat, detail conscious, and is able to identify creative solutions with ease. However, you are not a people-oriented person and hesitate to begin new projects. You also need constant approval from your employer to ensure that you’re on the right track. Consuming too much time with the planning aspect can be a waste of time and effort especially when others were able to finish ahead of you.

You find it very easy to make friends although you are extra cautious. You don’t want to cause too much attention since you would rather prefer to stay in the background. Your friends adore you and usually depend on you to help them solve your problems. Among the negative attitudes that are seen in melancholy people are socially insecure, skeptical, remote, withdrawn, and don’t want to be opposed.

True enough the melancholy person is far better than the aggressive extroverts. However, this doesn’t mean that you will no longer try to improve your weaknesses. Now that you know your strengths, you can use them to your advantage. Try to work on your weaknesses so that you can also convert them into strengths. This can be hard at first but you have to stay focused. The melancholy personality is an ideal personality as long as you’re able to control your weakest points.


If you’re an extrovert, then you have the so called Sanguine personality. These people are optimists and talkers. For those who want to learn more about this personality, read on and you will find out about your strengths and weaknesses.


Being talkative has its advantages. You can easily liven up a party with your presence because of your ‘storyteller’ attitude. With your appealing personality, you can easily attract others and make friends. Many people will admire you for your sense of humor, cheerfulness, and enthusiasm.

People with this type of personality volunteers for certain jobs and helps in creating new activities; they can instantly inspire others to work and join the fun. It’s no longer a surprise that Sanguine people have many friends. They basically love people and don’t hold grudges. If they commit a mistake, they will readily apologize.

If you have this type of personality, you can be a great parent. The home will have a fun atmosphere and you can develop ‘friendship’ with your children. Even your children’s friends will love your company. Amidst the disaster, you will still find humor. The child in your is always at work.

These are among the strengths of someone with the Sanguine personality. Despite the strengths, you also have to know about the weaknesses. Read on to find out.


As a compulsive talker, you will often elaborate and exaggerate stories which can scare others away. You are naïve, always complaining, angered easily, and speaks loudly. With your restless energy, others won’t be able to keep up with you.

At work, Sanguine people prefer to talk a lot and tend to forget their obligations. Their confidence also disappears instantly and their decisions are based primarily on feelings. You probably don’t want to be alone and makes excuses. You are forgetful and fickle which makes others hate you.

As a parent, the home is frenzy and disorganized. When there are arguments, you tend to be one-sided and you also tend to forget important appointments.

Sanguine people are focused and centered. The only time you find them silent is when they are asleep! It’s great to be fun loving and always full of bright ideas but the real problem is that you don’t ‘follow through’. With this weakness, problems may arise at work, at home, and even with friends.

No one is perfect and if you have this personality, you can always make a commitment so that you can follow through. You can do this by focusing on at last two activities. You have to do your best to avoid distractions. Aside from that, you also need to appreciate your inner self. There’s more to life than just pure fun and humor. Everything you do should have meaning. Find worthy activities that you can support like charity. Having depth is vital as a person and if you don’t want to scare off others, you need to learn to appreciate their good sides. The Sanguine personality has strengths and weaknesses but it’s up to you to become a better person.


Many businesspersons and sportsmen out there possess the Choleric personality. If you have this type of personality, you are an extrovert. The good thing about being a choleric is that you are a born leader. You possess qualities like being active, dynamic, decisive, strong willed, self sufficient, independent, unemotional, and not discouraged easily. You area person exuding with confidence and you can run almost anything. However, your negative traits can also affect you such as being bossy, impatient, can’t relax, quick tempered, enjoys arguments or controversies, unsympathetic, and too impetuous.

When you become a parent, you are the dominant type and you barely have time for your family. When the rest of the family members give poor performance, you become impatient. Your children will find it hard to relax in your presence and can even lead to depression. The good thing about you as a parent is that you can teach your children on how to establish their goals in life. The home is also kept organized and you encourage your kids to take action and possess sound leadership.

As a friend, you don’t do well with making a lot of friends. You want to lead and you can excel in emergencies. Other people will stay away from you because you tend to become a user, domineering, too independent, unpopular, makes decisions in behalf of others, knows a lot, and too possessive. This may be the reasons why a person with a Choleric personality has very few friends.

In the workplace, you are goal oriented, organize well, delegates work, stimulate activity, look for practical solutions, move quickly, and encourage production. However, as a leader, your subordinates may not appreciate your bored trivia, manipulation capabilities, and the demand for loyalty. You tend to make harsh decisions, is tactless, and rude. When you encounter an obstacle, you see it as a challenge and opportunity at the same time. This is your chance to solve yet another problem! With your positive traits, you can easily motivate other people.

It’s no longer a surprise that you can love, work, and live intensely. Once you decide or focus on something, you will do everything you can to achieve it. You’re the type of person who is always on the go. If you want to see improvements in your life, you need to take things slowly. Slow down… there is nothing wrong in giving yourself and others some time. Before you act on something, you have to think things over. By doing so, you will be able to identify the consequences of your actions and how your decisions affect other people.

Being a workaholic can have its advantages but you also need to spend time with your family. You have to keep in mind that the family is the most important of all. Besides, you’re working to provide for your family’s needs right?


Whether you’re at work, in the local community, or at home, you won’t be misunderstood especially if you know that you have the Phlegmatic personality. It’s very important that other people understand your behavior and personality in order to foster effective communication. Among the emotions that you constantly display are relaxed, easy going, consistent, kind, sympathetic, witty, and quiet, collected, cool, and calm. However, you also should be aware that negative emotions can also dominate you like being unenthusiastic, worried, fearful, indecisive, selfish, avoids responsibility, reticent, too shy, too compromising, and self righteous.

Once you have a family of your own, you can be a good parent. You tend to give your children enough time and you’re not hurrying unlike others. You are also not easily upset. However, since you usually take life easily, you tend to be lax with the children and so the home becomes disorganized.

As a person with this kind of personality, you are steady and competent in the workplace. Your co-employees will find you agreeable, peaceful, and even has the capability of managing administrative positions. You can mediate problems to avoid conflicts. Regardless of the pressure at work, you can still perform your duties and responsibilities well. still, you need to correct some negative attitudes like being careless, lazy, not self motivated or goal oriented, don’t want to be pushed, and tends to discourage others. These are the worst things that a Phlegmatic personality can do at work.

Since you’re pleasant, enjoyable, and inoffensive, you can make a lot of friends in a short time. You are a good listener, has concern, compassion, and sense of humor. There is no wonder that you have a wide circle of friends. You might have noticed that you judge others easily, resists change, stays uninvolved, and dampens enthusiasm. These are some negative traits that you need to correct or you will lose your friends.

Like other personalities, a Phlegmatic person has strengths and weaknesses. It is vital that you study your personality carefully so that you can evaluate which aspects need improvement. These are the general traits possessed by someone with this kind of personality but it doesn’t mean that you exhibit them all. Some traits are visible but some are just waiting to be developed. Hopefully, you can control your negative traits so that you can be a more productive person but then again, no one is perfect.

With this knowledge, you have the opportunity correct your bad traits and develop further your good points. There are times when you find yourself overindulging on the negative side but with the right knowledge, you can be back on track once more. Basically, you possess traits that can easily attract others and so winning friends is not a problem. You simply have to let go of your selfishness and self righteousness to keep long lasting friends.
